The best LendingTree alternatives in 2026 (and when to stick with LendingTree)
Full disclosure: we are Bay Street Lending, one of the alternatives below, so we're biased. We say plainly where LendingTree or another option is the better choice, and every competitor fact links to its source.

Why owners look for LendingTree alternatives
LendingTree is built for volume: one form, several providers, many contacts.
- What it is
- A lead-generation marketplace paid by the providers it matches you with
- Who contacts you
- Matched lenders, plus its small business concierge team
- Fees
- No LendingTree fee; one review says lender fees show only after you apply
- Reviews
- Trustpilot 4.5 from 17,377 (company-wide, all products); BBB A+
LendingTree is not a lender. Its terms of use say "LendingTree is a marketing lead generator" that "is paid a marketing lead generation fee by Providers," and that when you submit a form it "will attempt to match you with Providers," who may call, text or email you. Its privacy policy says it may disclose your information "to lenders and other third parties in our network" and to "marketing and advertising partners, including social media platforms."
On the business side, a small business concierge team gives "personalized recommendations" after the form, and LendingTree says it is investing to grow that sales team in 2026. Independent reviews repeat two themes: Merchant Maverick lists persistent calls and fees that are not disclosed up front, and business.org says negative reviews cite calls and emails, "especially after getting denied."
Its business volume also skews small. LendingTree says its concierge connected 5,000+ businesses with $300M+ of loans in 2025, about $60,000 each on average (our arithmetic), and its June 2026 quarterly filing mentions "small loan sizes" in the small business product. That makes LendingTree a specific choice, not a wrong one: it suits owners who want many offers fast. If you want fewer calls, one accountable contact, or a larger deal, the options below fit better.
LendingTree's terms of use ↗1. Lendio
The closest swap: another free online marketplace, and better than us for startups and small requests.
- Best for
- Startups, requests from $1,000, business credit cards
- Amounts
- $1K to $5M+ depending on product
- Cost to you
- Free to apply; lenders pay Lendio
- Reviews
- Trustpilot 4.5 (21,906), BBB A+
Lendio works much like LendingTree: one online application (Lendio says under 15 minutes, with no impact on your personal credit to apply), a funding expert, and a network Lendio describes as 100+ lenders on its homepage and 75+ on other pages. It claims $17B+ in small-business funding. It offers startup loans up to $150,000 and lines of credit from $1,000, so if your business is new or the amount is small, Lendio is a better alternative than we are.
It does not solve the sharing question. Lendio's privacy policy says it will share your information with "lenders, business financing providers, banks, and brokers," who "may retain your information, even if you do not enter into an agreement." Lendio says it does not sell data to data brokers or lead generators.
How Lendio works ↗2. Fundera by NerdWallet
NerdWallet's marketplace, with a human Funding Advisor assigned to your file.
- Best for
- Owners who want an advisor plus NerdWallet credit and banking tools
- Amounts
- Application slider from $5,000 to $1,000,000+
- Cost to you
- Free; the lender pays Fundera when you fund
- Reviews
- Trustpilot 4.8 (1,214), BBB A+
Fundera is a NerdWallet subsidiary that does business as NerdWallet Small Business. It takes one online application, asks for three or four months of bank statements, and assigns a Funding Advisor who shops the options and walks you through offers. Fundera says "you'll never pay Fundera a cent"; the lender pays it once you fund. The flow creates an account.
Its data terms are close to LendingTree's. The application consent lets Fundera share your information with partners, including NerdWallet and its partners, and covers autodialed and prerecorded calls and texts even if your number is on a Do-Not-Call list; the consent says it is not a condition of using the service. Fundera does not publish minimums; Finder cites a 600 credit score and $60,000+ in annual revenue. For an owner who wants a human advisor at a smaller amount than ours, Fundera is the better fit.
How Fundera works ↗3. Bay Street Lending
This is us. A broker for established businesses that want one advisor and a short list.
- Best for
- Established businesses needing $25K to $10M
- Amounts
- Working capital $25K–$2.5M; SBA and equipment to $5M; factoring to $10M
- Cost to you
- No fee from us; the funder pays us if you fund
- Reviews
- 5.0 on Google from 45 reviews
Bay Street Lending is a broker founded by an investment banker and a partner who has spent his career in commercial finance. You apply once (a soft credit pull, about two minutes) and one named advisor works your file from start to finish. We compare 100+ funding partners, but your file goes only to the funders that fit it, and we never sell your information to other lenders.
Every option comes back priced side by side (total cost, payment and term) in writing before you sign, with no obligation to accept. Working capital needs 6+ months in business, a 500+ FICO and $25,000+ a month in deposits, and can fund as fast as 6 hours; SBA 7(a) and 504 loans take 60 to 90 days. Our team has arranged $250M+.
Where LendingTree is better: we do not serve startups or requests under $25,000, we have 45 Google reviews against its 17,377, and we do not let you browse offers on your own.
Start an application →4. Clarify Capital
A broker with a dedicated advisor and a lower floor than ours.
- Best for
- 6+ months in business, $10K+ monthly revenue
- Amounts
- $5K to $5M; home equity line up to $750K
- Cost to you
- No up-front fees; paid by its lending partners
- Reviews
- Trustpilot 4.9 (873); no BBB profile found
Clarify Capital is a New York broker that claims access to 75+ lenders. Its application takes "just 2 minutes," a soft credit inquiry sets your rate, and a hard inquiry happens only if you accept a lender's offer. A dedicated advisor contacts you and does the legwork. It asks for 6+ months in business and $10,000+ a month in revenue, and some partners consider credit scores as low as 500.
For an established business that needs $5,000 to $25,000, or does $10,000 to $25,000 a month in revenue, Clarify is a better alternative than we are. Its menu is also wider: term loans and lines of credit up to $5M and a home equity line up to $750,000. It does not say how many lenders see a single file or what lenders pay it.
How Clarify Capital works ↗5. National Business Capital
Better for larger deals: it can lend up to $15M from its own balance sheet.
- Best for
- 1+ year in business, $600K+ revenue, $250K to $15M
- Speed
- Up to $250K in hours; $1M–$15M in 3–7 business days (its claims)
- Cost to you
- No published fee schedule; costs explained during the process
- Reviews
- Trustpilot 4.9 (2,773), BBB A+
National Business Capital now describes itself as a direct lender that can "fund in-house, up to $15M direct from our balance sheet," while still bringing offers from a lender network. It frames deals from $250,000 to $15 million and asks for one year in business and at least $600,000 in annual revenue. It also offers subordinated debt that sits behind a senior bank loan, which we do not arrange.
If your request is large, your business is mature, and you want a firm that can make the credit decision itself, National Business Capital is often the better choice. It is not built for smaller or younger businesses, and it does not publish its fees.
National Business Capital FAQ ↗6. Your own bank, an SBA preferred lender, or a CDFI
Not a marketplace at all. Usually the lowest cost if you qualify and have time.
- Best for
- Strong credit, 2+ years of returns, time to wait
- Speed
- Weeks to months; SBA loans often 60–90 days
- Cost to you
- Usually the lowest rates on this page
- Who sees your file
- Only that lender
If you have a banking relationship, two or more years of tax returns and strong credit, ask your own bank first. An SBA preferred lender can approve SBA 7(a) loans in-house, and a CDFI (a community development lender) often works with smaller or younger businesses that banks pass on, including microloan-size requests. Your file goes to one lender, and you deal with it directly.
The trade-off is time and paperwork: tax returns, financial statements, often collateral, and weeks rather than days. If you can wait and you qualify, this route is better than any broker or marketplace, including us.
How SBA lender types differ →Our pick
Stay with LendingTree, or try Lendio, if your business is new, you need less than $25,000, or you want to compare several offers yourself and do not mind calls from more than one company.
Choose Clarify Capital or Fundera if you want a human advisor on a smaller request. Choose Bay Street Lending if you are established, need $25,000 or more, and want one named advisor to bring you a short list of priced options without your file going further than it needs to. Choose National Business Capital for $250,000 to $15M on a mature business, and your own bank or an SBA preferred lender if you can wait for the lowest cost.
What we'd do today
- Write down the amount, what it is for, and the payment your cash flow can carry each week or month.
- Pull your last 3–6 months of business bank statements; every option on this page asks for them.
- Before you submit any form, ask who will see your file, how many companies will contact you, and whether they can keep your information.
- Ask your own bank for a quote in parallel; it sets a floor for every other offer.
- Compare offers on total payback and payment, not only the rate, and get each one in writing.
Questions
Is LendingTree a lender?
No. LendingTree's terms of use call it a marketing lead generator. It matches you with providers in its network, and those providers pay LendingTree a fee.
How many lenders will contact me through LendingTree?
LendingTree does not publish a fixed number for its business form. Independent reviewers say it matches you with up to four or five lenders, its terms say matched providers may call, text or email you, and its concierge team may also reach out.
Does LendingTree hurt my credit?
LendingTree's general terms say submitting its form may involve a soft credit inquiry that will not affect your score; they do not say whether that applies to every business form. A lender may run a hard pull when you formally apply. Bay Street Lending and Clarify Capital start with a soft pull.
Which LendingTree alternative is best for a startup?
Lendio, which offers startup loans up to $150,000. Bay Street Lending, Clarify Capital and National Business Capital all require time in business: six months for us and Clarify, one year for National Business Capital.
Is Bay Street Lending free?
Yes. We are a broker, not a lender. The funder that approves your file pays us; you pay no fee to us and are under no obligation to accept an offer.
